A visa for Brazil in 2027?
Attention, Chinese tourists. The visa waiver is coming to an end!

The plan is to visit Brazil for tourism, business, or a friend on a recent trip to Brazil.
Currently, ordinary Chinese passport holders are granted temporary waivers in Brazil, but the validity of this policy has been clarified.31 December 2026.
In other words, after 2027, a visa may need to be requested in advance if both sides do not announce an extension of the visa waiver.
For those who have arranged their journey for next year, what is most important now is not just whether or not to cancel them, but also when the waiver policy will expire, how long it can stay, and how it will be arranged when the policy changes.
I. Brazil ' s visa-free policy, when?
Under the arrangements currently published, ordinary Chinese passport holders may travel to Brazil without a visa if the relevant conditions are met.
The following information needs to be focused at this stage:
- ** Policy validity period: ** As at 31 December 2026
- ** Addressee: ** Eligible person holding a normal Chinese passport
- ** Purpose of application: ** Short-term visits, such as travel, business, family visits, etc., that are eligible for a visa waiver
- ** Duration of stay:** Exempted stay of up to 30 days without extension. During each immigration year (within 12 months from the date of the first entry of a passenger), multiple entry may take place, provided that the cumulative stay does not exceed 30 days.
- ** Reissued for technical reasons.
It should be particularly recalled that a waiver does not mean that any activity can be carried out. Long-term or specific-purpose travel to Pakistan, such as work, study, etc., cannot be dealt with simply under the short-term travel exemption policy.

For friends who planned to travel to Brazil in 2027, the most important concern now was whether the policy was to be extended, rather than simply believing that a visa would be required next year.
The continuation of the waiver will require subsequent official announcements by both sides. Until the new information is made public, it is not certain that the policy will continue or that the visa requirement will be resumed as soon as it expires.
If you have established a travel plan for 2027, it is recommended that you be prepared in advance:
First, follow up on official information.
Follow up on visa policy circulars issued by official channels such as the Chinese Foreign Service and the Brazilian Embassy and Consulate in China and, in particular, are concerned about any new extension arrangements by the end of 2026.
Secondly, the visa application requirements are known in advance.
If the visa waiver policy is not extended, visa categories will need to be confirmed on the basis of the actual purpose of the trip and applications prepared in advance. The issue of visas should not be started until all the tickets and hotels have been arranged.
Thirdly, the end of the year should be more leeway.
If a trip to Brazil is planned for late December 2026, it is not recommended that the schedule be too tight. The continuation of the policy and the application of which provision at the time of entry should be verified in advance, so as to avoid delays in information affecting travel.
Have you been to Brazil since Brazil was released?
