On 2 February, the Chinese Embassy in Thailand announced that under the agreement, Chinese citizens would still be exempt from the requirement to travel to Thailand with a valid passport. As of 15 September 2026, Chinese personnel holding regular official passports and regular passports may still be exempted from entry into Thailand on the grounds of tourism, family visits and other matters in conformity with the AgreementNo more than 30 days of single stay (no more than 90 days of cumulative stay per 180 days)I don't know。

The bulletin states that, in recent days, the Government of Thailand has issued a proclamation to adjust the period of duty-free stay, and that the relevant provisions will be implemented as of 15 September 2026。The Embassy verified with the Thai authorities that this adjustment did not affect the Chinese-Thai bilateral waiver agreement。The Thai side cancelled its previous unilateral 60-day visa waiver policy for 93 countries and territories, including China. The Agreement between the Government of the People ' s Republic of China and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand on the Exchange of Visas Free of Ordinary Passport Personnel, which entered into force on 1 March 2024, continues in force。

At the same time, the Embassy cautions that a visa waiver does not amount to unconditional entry. Those wishing to enter Thailand for work, study, journalism, settlement and other activities requiring prior authorization, as well as those wishing to stay in Thailand for more than 30 days, must obtain the corresponding visa before entering Thailand。

On 15 July 2024, the Government of Thailand announced that it would extend the period for citizens of 93 countries and territories, including China (including the Hong Kong/Australian region), to stay in Thailand without a visa for travel, business activities and emergency or temporary work for up to 60 days. Starting this year, taking into account security and economic considerations, Thailand adjusted this policy and officially issued a related announcement at the end of August。

I want to give you a few points:

1. Disclaimer

Travel, family visits, etc., are subject to the agreement, and there is no problem of exemption from entry in the form of a regular official passport or a regular passport。

2. Shorter stay periods

Most single stays30 daysand that the cumulative stay cannot exceed 90 days per 180 days. Long-planned friends will remember to have their corresponding visas in advance。

Three, no sign-off

If you go to work, study, report, settle, or plan to stay for more than 30 daysYou have to get a visa before you leaveI don't know. The passport is valid at the time of entry and the declaration of an electronic Thai entry card is completed. Don't overstay, and don't do anything incompatible with the visa。
